I have to admit that for the longest time I viewed those who professed to derive meaning from tarot cards as as diluded at best, and manipulative at worst. So much so that I decided to study the tarot myself to see if I possessed the talent – surely if I did, it could not be real!
The more I learned the meaning behind the symbols and felt a personal connection with the images, however, the more I realised that the tarot is open to anyone regardless of background, faith, experience, and even level of clairvoyance. One simply must ask.
My personal philosophy regarding tarot readings is twofold: 1) a reading is a conversation between the reader and the questioner; what the questioner sees in the cards, and the feelings they get, are just as important (and as enlightening) as what the reader sees, and 2) the cards do not predict the future, they simply give an indication of the likely outcome assuming all influences remain unchanged. The tarot tells us what is in our hearts and higher consciousness, not necessarily what will happen!
